Welcome to Cornwall Homechoice
Nation Fraud Initiative - For information only - No Action required
Cornwall Council has asked us to let you know that they are taking part in an exercise called the National Fraud Initiative that promotes the proper spending of public monies. You do not need to do anything; the information is to let you know whats happening.
Cornwall Council is required by law to protect the public money that they manage. to do this they may use or share information with other organisations responsible for checking or managing public money, to prevent or detect fraud.
Cornwall Council is required by the Cabinet Office to participate in the National Fraud Initiative and to provide details of applicants on the Housing Waiting List (Cornwall Homechoice register). This is so that the details can be compared with information from other organisations and in doing so help to prevent or detect fraud.
Further information is available on Cornwall councils website www.cornwall.gov.uk/nfi
If you have any questions, or would like a copy of the website information please contact Martin Curtis (Lead Auditor) on 01872 224291 or MLCurtis@cornwall.gov.uk
Homechoice gives you more say in deciding where you wish to live and makes the process much more open, letting you see which properties are available, what the rent is and who can bid for them.
Once you have completed your online application form we will assess your need and write to you with your Banding, you will then be able to bid for up to 3 suitable properties advertised on this website Saturday to Wednesday each week. Properties are generally allocated to the bidder in the highest Band and who meets any stated criteria i.e. local connection to the parish etc.
Homechoice only advertises social housing to rent. If you are interested in an affordable home to own (e.g shared ownership, discounted sale etc) you need to register with Help to Buy Southwest (formerly Southwest Homes). Please visit the Help to Buy Southwest website where you will be able to see if you are eligible for any ownership schemes, view available properties and complete an application form.
If you need help using Cornwall Homechoice, contact us on 0300 1234 161 or visit your local one stop shop. There's also lots of information about Cornwall Homechoice on the main Cornwall Council website.
